I don’t like before and afters. You never know the story behind them, and you don’t know the person. A before and after without text is simply a woman who has lost weight. But this is me. This is my body before and after losing 9-10lbs of fat. It was patience. It was hard work. It was not just a process of changing healthy habits and losing weight, but it was changing my mindset. It was realizing that I didn’t have to get to my goal weight to love my body. It was the stimulus for creating the blog that I now have, and in that, it is very important. It was using thinspo, and then getting rid of it halfway through as I realized that it damaged my self-esteem. It was recognizing that exercise is vital, and incredibly releasing. It was hearing my body tell me when it was hungry, and feeding my body-not my emotions.  It was learning not to binge, it was learning to like healthy foods. So yeah, my weight loss, has made me- me. Not because of my change in my appearance- but because I have realized that weight doesn’t define beauty, and it doesn’t define my self-esteem.So sure, be inspired by before and afters. But do some research. Will having a before and after like that person really make you happy? Or is it something deeper?-Em

I agree with this so much. It’s a big learning adventure in my life, all I wanted was to lose some pounds but I feel like I’ve really found myself and learnt to love me :)
